Acupressure for low back pain

According to research, 8 out of 10 people experience back pain at some point in their lives, leading to over 83 million days of work lost each year. Acupuncture is known to be one of the most effective treatments for back pain

Today, we will be covering important acupressure points that help alleviate back pain. Acupressure is done with gentle pressure on the point location for a duration of 3-5 minutes.

UB40

Location: This point is located at the midpoint of the transverse crease of the popliteal fossa, between the tendons of m. biceps femoris and m. semitendinosus.

Actions: This point is for lumbar pain, spasm and weakness of the lower extremities

Yao Tong Xue

This point is located on the dorsum of the hand, midway between the transverse wrist crease and metacarpophalangeal joint, between the second and third metacarpal bones, and between the fourth and fifth metacarpal bones, four points in all on both hands.

Actions: This point is for acute issues of the low back – pain, sprain, strain (needle the same side)

Ling Gu

This point is located in the depression, just distal to the junction of the first and second metacarpal bones. Approximately 0.5 cun proximal to Large Intestine 4 (Hegu). ***Contraindicated during pregnancy

Actions:  This point is for back pain, low back pain, sciatica, acute back sprain, etc.

Da Bai

This point is located about 0.5 cun proximal to LI3 (Sanjian). ***Contraindicated during pregnancy

Actions: Sciatica, upper back pain, lower back pain, chest pain & much more.
