Winter is a time when we are more susceptible to getting sick; furthermore, we may take a longer to fully recover during this season.

Huang Qi

One of the best ways to prevent getting sick this season is by having a warm and well-balanced diet. You can also enhance your immune system by using a Chinese herb called “Huang Qi”. This herb is also known as “Astragalus membranaceous” and is a root of a perennial plant that grows in the northern and eastern areas of China.
This root is commonly used in the households and is readily available in Chinese drug stores. Huang Qi is best known for its anti-viral effects and the use of building the immune system to avoid respiratory infections, flus, and colds.
Huang Qi has been proven to be incredibly effective in building the immune system as it is an adaptogen, meaning it is able to protect the body from physical, mental, and emotional stress (which is shown to lower the immune system).

How to add Huang Qi into your health routine:
Dried slices of Huang Qi/Astragalus Root are sold at Chinese grocery stores and some health food stores such as Whole Foods. With these slices you are able to make:
Tea: Simmer the slices and add to your tea in the morning. Huang Qi is usually a sweet taste, so no need to worry about it ruining the taste of your morning tea!
Oatmeal: Adding a few small bits to your oatmeal is a great way to add a natural sweetener to your meal as well as help boost your energy and immune system for the day!
Soups: Add a few slices to your soups in order to make it more nourishing

If you prefer to take a medicinal dose in pill form, you are able to your Standard Process products online!
