About Facial Acupuncture

Facial Acupressure & Massage

How does facial acupuncture work?

As the needles puncture the skin, they create wounds within its threshold, which are called positive microtraumas. When your body senses these wounds, it goes into repair mode. This is the same idea microneedling uses to get bright, anti-aging results. These punctures stimulate your lymphatic and circulatory system, which work together to deliver nutrients and oxygen to your skin cells, nourishing skin from the inside out. This helps even out your complexion and promote your skin’s glow. The positive microtraumas also stimulates the production of collagen. This helps improve elasticity, minimizing fine lines and wrinkles.

What is facial Gua Sha?

Facial Gua Sha is a massage technique designed to relieve tension in the muscles of the face, boost blood circulation, and encourage lymphatic drainage to banish bloat. It helps break up fascia, the connective tissue that hugs muscles but can sometimes interfere with optimal circulation. Facial Gua Sha is amazing for chronically dry, dehydrated skin; aging skin characterized by reduced elasticity or sagging; and acneic or congestion-prone skin. Gua Sha is great because it is something that can be done at home. Check out this blog post that goes through the steps of facial Gua Sha. Feel free to join along in the comfort of your own home!
